The IMPACT guidance was originally developed for use just within Edinburgh and the Lothian’s. We have received such a positive response to the guidance, however, that this is now available across Scotland.
In order to do this, new materials have been developed to support NHS colleagues to raise awareness of the guidance and encourage third-sector services within their local areas to use it. The main focus for these new materials will be the IMPACT Champions Support Pack . This is being developed so that areas interested in promoting and using the guidance can learn from our experience of working with the many services supporting people who have experienced mental health problems within the Lothian’s.
We have also now developed an IMPACT Training for Trainers session which will be rolled out from November 2018 starting in NHS Grampian, Highland and Orkney areas and an IMPACT Continuing Professional Development award for Smoking Cessation Practitioners also available from November 2018. Currently in development is an adaptation of the original IMPACT Guidance training so that it can be delivered to people working in inpatient settings. More information on this soon.
Information about the IMPACT guidance training and details of availabilty locally shall be promoted through a variety of third sector newsletters, bulletins and networks -so watch this space for more information!
The IMPACT Guidance Training has now been delivered to over 200 mental health practitioners from across the Third Sector. Again, further information about the course and dates for delivery will be advertised here . The IMPACT website itself is undergoing development and now contains a number of practical tools and resources for you to use along with the guidance.
Finally, we are also exploring the possibility of running a series of events across the country to bring those interested in using IMPACT together in your local area. Further information on these events will be posted on the events page .
